Profile

Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT) is a social project set-up to address unemployment among urban male youths from families with limited resources within Lagos and its environs so that they have a brighter economic future. It provides high quality technical vocational training and in-company training opportunities through the dual vocational training system. There is a great emphasis on education in values as IIT targets the development of the whole person.

IIT provides scholarships to make its programmes affordable and accessible to youths from low income families. This is possible due to the generosity of our partners and supporters. It also provides retraining and skills upgrading programmes for industry employees thereby providing service to its supporting community and maintaining the relevance of its programmes to the needs industry.

IIT has benefitted from the educational and social concern of the Lagos Business School (LBS). It obtained approval from the Lagos State Government to operate as a private vocational institution in 2006.

African Development Foundation (ADF), a not-for-profit educational and social welfare Trust established in 1994 by some well-meaning citizens of Nigeria, set-up IIT and it started operations in 2000. IIT was set-up in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of St. Josemaria Escriva, the Founder of Opus Dei. He was greatly concerned about helping the less privileged members of society to improve their social conditions, such that they could obtain the needed resources to live more dignified lives.

We prepare our students with the right knowledge, skill and attitude of a competent technician.
